If you use Outlook Express or Outlook, you do not need to do this test.
Secure Address Book works just fine with those email clients.
Specific Information:
The Bat! 1.60
If you use "The Bat!" 1.60 you can send messages to a single
email recipient just fine, however, if you send messages to multiple
addresses you have to remember to manually paste the addresses into the
BCC: field. The Bat! does not currently conform to RFC 821 & RFC
822. We have contacted RIT Labs about this issue.
Pegasus Mail 4.01
Pegasus Mail If you use Pegasus Mail 4.01 you can send messages to a single email recipient just fine,
however, if you send messages to multiple addresses you will have to manually paste the
email addresses from the Windows clipboard into the BCC: field. Pegasus Mail does not currently conform to RFC 821 and RFC 822.
We have not contacted the author as of yet.
Eudora 5.1.1
If you use Eudora, you need to export your email address book to a .CSV file in order to
get your address book migrated to Secure Address
Book.
We cannot, at this time, import the
Eudora address book format, however, we are working on it.
Other Email Clients
Secure Address Book has not been tested with AOL (any version),
Netscape 6 or 7 or Mozilla 1.0.
Opera 6.0x
Since Opera cannot be set as your 'default' email client Secure
Address Book does not work directly with the internal Opera
email client if you are using an "Opera Account". If you
have Opera set up to use another email client as the default, then Secure
Address Book may work with that client, depending upon
which email client you have chosen to use.
Feedback Appreciated!
If you are using any of these products, test them and report back what you find, I
would appreciate the report. Just follow the instructions below to test your default email
client.
Make sure before you perform this test that the email client you wish to use Secure Address
Book with is currently set to be your default email client.
Click on the email link below to test your current email client for compatibility with
Secure Address book.
Please do NOT send this message!
When you click on it, your email client should open a new message window and you should
see email addresses in the TO:, CC:, and BCC: email address fields and "This Is The Subject Line"
in the Subject Line field with "Test Message" in the body of the email message window.
If you see all of the items listed above, then Secure Address Book will work just fine for you.
If you do not see the address in the BCC field, then you
will have to remember to manually paste multiple email addresses into the
BCC field.
If you do not see all of the items, then your default email client does not correctly support
Internet RFC 821 and RFC 822 standards.
If you happen to send this test message, you should get 3
auto-responders in your return inbox. However, please be considerate
of my resources and don't send the message.
Thank you for your interest in Secure Address Book!
